We sell two eBook formats, ePub and mobi. One of these formats will almost certainly be the correct one for your portable reader device or computer. Below is a short list of the most common readers and alternate methods of reading ebooks, with their correct format:
- ePub format: Sony eReader, (Barnes & Noble) Nook
- Mobi format: (Amazon) Kindle (see below for Kindle Fire)
- Both the above formats: MS Windows computers, Apple Mac computers, iPhone, iPad, Android tablets & smart phones, Kobo, Kindle Fire
- Note: If reading via a computer, you may also need to acquire software to read ebooks. This can usually be downloaded and installed at no cost.
For more information, see Comparison of e-book formats (Wikipedia).
As there are a lot of different readers and software available to read eBooks it is essential that you check the specifications of your particlular reader (with it’s manual, supplier or manufacturer) before making an ebook purchase.
Purchasing an eBook
You can purchase an eBook just like you would any other product on our store. Because they are downloaded to your computer/device, there are no shipping charges involved. Once you have navigated the checkout process and payment has been successful, then you will receive an additional email which contains a download link to each eBook that you purchased. This link will also be available from your Digital Purchases and Subscriptions page (via My Account) but only if you purchased from your store account (anyone can create a store account at any time).
We recommend that you create a store account the first time that you shop with us as this will enable you to re-download any eBooks purchased at any time, even months and years after your purchase. If you purchase as a “guest” (no store account) then you’ll need to phone us in order to have a download email resent to you.
What if the email with the download link/details did not arrive?
Please contact us. We can resend the download email if necessary.
For NZ and South Africa there will be a delay, so please see Digital products purchased from the NZ and South Africa stores.
